Symposia
The Prague Quadrennial’s Intersection project aims to create a strong theoretical basis for its projects and establish a space for theoreticians and artists to meet and collaborate. The Prague Quadrennial has traditionally hosted conferences and symposia of important international networks and organizations of theorists, scenographers, educators, and theatre critics, among others.
In autumn 2009 we were collaborating with Theaterschool Amsterdam to organize an international symposium, Scenography Expanded, regarding curatorship of scenography exhibitions as well as expanding the term “scenography” and looking into contemporary performance as a phenomenon that goes beyond theatre.
Prague Quadrennial was also cooperating with Zurich University of the Arts – Institute for Design and Technology on Monitoring Scenography 3: Space and Desire , that ivited practitioners from artistic and academic research backgrounds to discuss the existence and texture of spatial languages, choreographies, mise-en-scenes, and spatial representations of desire.
In 2010, three Intersections symposia Scenography Expanding will take place in Riga, Belgrade and Evora to research different forms and uses of performance from the different points of view of audience, artists, and curators.
More information about the themes and registration for these symposia are here and will be continuously sent out through the PQ newsletter.
